Projects for a sustainable carpet industry

The Label STEP projects have a wide thematic range. Label STEP supports workers and their families in fields like health care, education for children and adults, advancement of women, knowledge transfer, promoting small businesses, strengthening local self-help groups, health and safety in the workplace and environmental protection.

Projects which aim at the dialogue between all people involved in the carpet industry or the support of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are of increasing importance. These projects often bring about improvement for the carpet industry and its employees of a whole region.

Label STEP runs projects in the following fields:

3. Dialogue with all stakeholders involved in the trade chain
4. Promotion of environmentally friendly production methods
5. Knowledge transfer

The projects are also always jointly carried by the carpet companies in the North and the South. Regarding project work, Label STEP places great value on the participation of workers as well as local organisations and institutions. To guarantee the sustainability of the project work, the projects are designed in such way that they can be handed over to local structures and/or require participation by which the project can be financed by local means over time.
