Thomas Tramp
Design and Edition of Contemporary Rugs
In 2009 Thomas Callafe, a 37 year old designer originating from industry, set up Thomas Tramp. He was guided by the ambition of bringing a new flavour to contemporary rug design.
FUNDAMENTALS & CONCEPT
- Going beyond function and making the rug a pure idea, an expression, a unique and personal piece.
- Coming via rugs to unusual perspectives on the floor.
- The different elements combined by rugs allow a double lecture and generate intriguing contrasts.
- The first impression is visual and decorative, the second is personal, intuitive, concerned.
- It is about reaching beyond the superficial function and getting to the ground.
QUALITY
The rugs designed and realised by Thomas Tramp are entirely hand made in Nepal, according to terms of fair trade.
The wool origins solely from the Tibetian Plateau, from sheep who live in heights of more than 4000 meters. These fibres are of sublime quality, consisting in exeptional softnes, density and resistance. The unique caracter of Nepalese carpets lies also in the suptle nuances in the colouring and the singular relief in the pile.
MASS COSTUMISATION AND NUMERATION
Each rug is modified and realised according to the customers wishes. Thomas Tramp would give advice in:
- the choice of dimensions
- the choice of colours
- the choice of material (Tibetan wool, mulberry silk, viscose)
Each edition is a unique and personal piece, signed and numbered. Thomas Tramp designes rugs for particular projects or according to specific themes of a customer as well.
