Label STEP at Domotex 2008

In January Label STEP has participated at Domotex, the international fair for floor coverings and carpets in Hannover (D). The Fairtrade organisation Label STEP is the only organisation that conducts extensive and serious verification of social standards in all important carpet producing countries.

Many partners – and potential licensees – have taken the opportunity for a personal conversation at the Label STEP stand, to inform themselves about the objectives and activities of Label STEP in the producing countries.

On the fair's first day we received an important visit at the stand of Label STEP. State Secretary Anis Birou (image above, with Françoise Jirgens, Co-Director Label STEP) of the Moroccan Ministry for Tourism and Handicraft, profited from the presence of our team at Domotox 2008 to thank for the good cooperation in the jointly conducted Label STEP project for carpet end washing and carpet restoration.

We are particularly pleased that our licensee, carpet designer Jan Kath (image below) has won the "Carpet Design Award" for the best design in the category over 250 Euros per square meter with the carpet named "Roma Vendetta", 300 x 250 centimetres, an exceptional and fascinating combination of modern design and fair trade.
