More then just a fairy tale
A Comic book against abusive child labourWith this new project to create sensitization, Label STEP is going new ways against abusive child labour. The sale-proceeds are used for further development projects in India.
The comic book “The Magic Carpet” serves to create an awareness of the public in the North and in the South and was published in the four languages English, German, French and Hindi. As the target group are children and teenagers as well as their parents the comic offers an emotional, easily understandable and entertaining introduction to this topic.
The intercultural dimension of the project is reflected in the history of the comic: A ten-year-old girl f rom Europe and an Indian boy of the same age get to know each other and their different living conditions; they experience adventures together and finally become friends
With “The Magic Carpet” Label STEP is trying to render the varied and often difficult production steps and production conditions more understandable to the readers and is trying to positively influence buying behavior.
“The Magic Carpet” is especially created to be used for students ten years and older in India and Europe.
For teachers we offer an accompanying textbook with extensive background information and tips for using the comic book in the classroom.
