Reading materials from the bicycle libraryIlliteracy is prevalent in Bhadohi, a region in India’s carpet belt. Female carpet knotters have learned to read, write and do basic arithmetic in a Label STEP project. In the process they receive support which shows them how to use what they have learned in everyday life. One of the schemes is to bring reading materials into their villages on a rickshaw. More... |
