Geba - Design meets Tradition
Geba has been synonymous with the idea “Avant-garde meets Tradition” for almost 20 years. Since his youth, Harald Geba has shared his enthusiasm for modern art with his interest in carpets. After some years of experience in the field of classical carpets and a time in London, where he learnt more about his passion for rugs, he decided to run his own company and opened a gallery in the heart of the historical centre of Graz, Austria. He engaged young artists to sketch designs for the typical “Geba Carpet” and shortly after he started his own production in Anatolia. Orient and Occident meet in his designs, which are always timeless, yet modern.
Since 2003 Geba has been producing his rugs in two Ateliers in Nepal, where hand-carded and hand-spun wool from the Tibetan highlands is knotted into exclusive carpets according to age-old tradition.
Thanks to his own production, Geba is ready to suit all customers’ wishes concerning colour and size or design. Especially interior designs and large-scale objects require individual concepts that meet corporate identities and ambiences. These requirements can be met, as a special service, either as visualizations or as rooms with different carpet solutions.
Geba Nepal Edition
Geba is one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of handmade designer carpets, produced in Nepal. Design meets tradition – to combine western art and culture with age-old arts-and-crafts-tradition of the East has been Geba's goal from the beginning. The production adheres to the principles of fair trade, rejecting also child labour, of course.
Geba carpets are made of Tibetan wool; for special effects other materials such as hemp or silk are also used. The standard is 100 knots per square inch. All sizes, colours, designs or structures (cut, loop, shaggy etc.) are possible.
